Healing Happens Through Connection - Let’s Talk
in-person Counselling in Halifax, NS
and virtual counselling In BC
Hi, I’m Simone.
I work with individuals and couples in-person and virtually in Halifax Nova Scotia, and virtually in British Columbia. With 6 years of experience, I come from a trauma informed, feminist, and collaborative approach.
I use EMDR, DBT, Narrative therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I have experience working with clients from varying populations and backgrounds including members of LGBTQ2SIA+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent communities.
MY COUNSELLING METHODS
-
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
A structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (eye movements) which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories (American Psychological Association).
-
NARRATIVE
Narrative Therapy
A collaborative, strength-based approach that views people as separate from their problems, allowing the individual to externalize their issues rather than internalize them. It emphasizes the idea that our lives are shaped by the stories we tell ourselves which can sometimes become self limiting (Narrative Therapy, 2017).
-
COUPLES THERAPY
Gottman Method
A evidence-based approach that focuses on strengthening relationships, managing conflict, and creating shared meaning in the relationship. This approach is structured and practical giving clients tools to improve connection and resilience in their partnerships (The Gottman Institute)
-
EFT
Emotion Focused Therapy
Is a method that leads therapist and client toward strategies that promote the awareness, acceptance, expression, utilization, regulation, and transformation of emotion as well as corrective emotional experience with the therapist (American Psychological Association).
-
“Safety is not the absence of threat, it is the presence of connection.”
